Here, Jessie Alice – the co-founder of Eco Hair Ties – shares her inspiring story.

Eco Hair Ties is a closed circle small business founded by me (Jessie) and my husband Adam to take our love for the environment and sustainability to the next level. With the recent interest growth in society to be more environmentally conscious, we still found that there was a big gap for more businesses to just follow that trend yet it seemed like no one was really taking that leap!

Eco Hair Ties was founded because sustainability, style and convenience are super important in our lives. Our little tribe has always wanted to put our needs for sustainability at the top of our priority list all while being super convenient.

Being environmentally conscious has always had a bad wrap when it comes to cost, convenience and aesthetic – so it was our mission to change that.

Because if you can’t find what you need, make it yourself and that’s what we did!

We created our amazing hair tie to not only encourage and celebrate loving the environment but we also want everyone to switch their mindset towards making sustainability a style of its own .

Usually we turn to changes like cars, lightbulbs, power consumption and all that other complicated stuff to change our negative impact on the planet to a positive one. But the thing is, it actually doesn’t have to be complicated at all. Making a positive change in your life to be gentle with our environment can be as easy as tying your hair – so we set that to be our mission!

Our journey started with a tiny idea that sparked a wave of inspiration in our lives. Being two people who are always around nature (we love catching a wave or finding a new walking trail), we wanted to make sure that our mark left on the planet was a positive one, even if it is the smallest thing.

So, not only are our hair ties made from zero plastic so that they don’t harm any little living thing in nature, but they are created through a process called up-cycling which is a quirky and innovative way to turn one man’s trash into another man’s treasure.

This is how we are able to turn a humble bicycle inner tube (our main resource) into a stylish product for your hair. But don’t worry – the bike inner tube goes through an intensive cleaning process to retrieve the freshest and sleekest product that we possibly can.

We also finish the process by bathing the hair ties in coconut oil to give them a beautiful and healthy finish – ready to create the most amazing hairstyles!

And that’s Eco Hair Ties! Just a dream for a more nature-lovin world that we turned into a full time business. Our mission is to save the planet one hair-do at a time! This business is our passion and we’re so excited to share it with you… If you want to follow our journey we are online @ecohairties on Instagram or to shop our products visit us at ecohairties.com.au
