Race Day Fashion: Jodi Anasta, Steph Claire Smith & Kris Smith
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Whilst it’s meant to be about the horses, fashion often becomes the feature come race day. We spoke to Myer Ambassador’s Jodi Anasta, Kris Smith and Steph Claire Smith about their sartorial racing tips. And they’re off…

Jodi Anasta

The actress and Myer Ambassador was racing perfection in a rose-adorned lace Asilio dress with theatrical bell sleeves and Ann Shoebridge ribbon. From heel to headpiece, a palette of powdery pink, green and white was adhered to, with glamorous makeup by the masterful Max May.

“This dress is Asilio, it’s a little bit of fun – today’s all about colour at the races so I’m well and truly embracing that. We did a bit of an oriental look today and I’ve got my little Mon Purse clutch and Holly Ryan earrings. When it comes to the races, it’s all about embracing femininity and elegance, it’s a day of being demure and understanding the dress code. I’ve seen quite a lot of lace, colourful lace, which I love, and is a big trend this season at Myer. It’s all about that thick lace with deep, rich beautiful tones and lots of high neck-lines.”

The Instagram model-of-the-moment opted for a slightly sexier number, a fitted Asilio dress with high-neck and peek-a-boo shoulders in candy pink. This was complimented with a gilded Viktoria Novak headpiece and equally glow-y makeup care of highlighting queen, Ania Milczarczyk.

“My headpiece is so cute, it’s Viktoria Novak, I like the crown trend, it’s been popping up in Melbourne a lot. The dress is Asilio, I like the pink, and you can only get this colour at Myer, but I was worried I was going to be too Barbie like! I came up to Sydney and completely forgot to bring my shoes! So Wanted helped me out last minute. This is my first time in Sydney at the races, it’s really cool and big and beautiful, the racing fashion is pretty similar in Melbourne, but now obviously being more wintery, there’s jackets and longer sleeves.”

Myer’s rugged stallion was as dapper as ever, in navy Dom Bagnato jacket and Politix shirt and ivory chinos. The preppy look was peppered with burgundy accents; with skinny tie, belt and shoes in tonal reds and browns.

“I’m a sucker for blue, I always wear a blue suit but it’s getting a little tiresome and boring now, so this time I mixed it up with a pair of lighter chinos. I’m a big fan of the European style, the shoes and no socks – it’s kind of Italian but with a Manchester swing on it! I tell people to get the most of their suits – to not look like the same suit time and time again because they’re expensive, so that’s what I’ve gone for today. It’s Sydney so it’s always a good colourful day.”
