Christina, now 54, went to the High Court in London after Sheikh Walid Juffali took a second wife and divorced her under Islamic law in 2014.

She had sought $335 million from the Saudi billionaire to keep her in the lifestyle to which she had become accustomed.

But Justice Jennifer Roberts decided that a record $94 million was enough to fuel her pricey shoe, fur and car habit.

“I fully understand how this can be perceived in the wider world,” said Christina.

“The spectacular life Walid and I led was immensely fortunate and rarified.”

She added: “I never wanted to be here. I always wanted to resolve the matter amicably. This process has been incredibly bruising and distressing.

“Walid and I were happily married for 12 years and have a beautiful daughter together. He took both a second wife and divorced me without my knowledge.”

Christina says she needed $1.7 million a year for clothes, of which she spends an estimated $36,000 on shoes and $68,000 on fur coats. She also has luxury cars and homes in London and Beverly Hills.

Walid, who is 61, and suffering from terminal cancer, said his wealth was just a fraction of the billions estimated by Christina’s lawyers. He added that he was planning to leave his fortune to his children, including his teenage daughter with Christina.

His lawyers called the amount “astonishing” and that anything more “would drive this case into fantasy territory”.

Walid was ordered to pay the full amount by July 29.

There have been pricier divorce settlements in Britain, but none with as big a “needs award” – a payment for the ex-spouse’s living costs.
