Guests were transported into a striking city scape, with the dramatic event creatively transforming the spectacular venue, On Seven at David Jones. Entering via an underground tunnel, guests were wowed into an urban jungle complete with a live graffiti artist, a paved runway reminiscent of Melbourne city laneways, vivid LED street-style lighting, and a live band of drummers that opened the start of the show and set the tone for the new season which urges you to march to your own fashion beat.

David Jones’ Autumn Winter 2015 is a season of the unexpected, of pushing the boundaries and embracing a confident you.

Styling:

With over 212 looks hitting the runway, this season’s key trends came to life at the hands of renowned stylist Kelvin Harries. Expect statement accessories from David Jones’ leading portfolio of brands; Celine, Alexander Wang, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Stella McCartney, Sylvia Toledano, Amber Sceats, Michael Kors, Kurt Geiger, Tony Bianco and Guess.

Makeup:

The makeup this season is from MAC Cosmetics. The cult makeup brand were used on models under the direction of Director of Makeup Artistry, James Molloy. Both of the makeup looks were designed for confident, empowered women and portray an easy glamour – for girls who have partied all night, but still look fresh and beautiful. The first look plays on a sophisticated tobacco brown eye, with a fleshy nude lipstick.  The second look showcased a dimensional smokey eye, paired with a transparent foundation giving a subtle sheen to the skin.

Hair:

Partnering again with Aveda & led by Terry Robertson-Kirkwood, two custom and very classic David Jones looks were created to complement the savvy, urban chic runway style.

Menu:

The menu brought the city landscape to life with a unique take on urban street style food.  Think – walking home through the city after a glamorous night out and biting into a hot dog on brioche with American mustard and ketchup; a gourmet ‘philly steak’ roll with finely sliced sirloin, cheddar and onions with pickled jalepeno; or delicious ‘mac & cheese’ macaroni pasta with garden pea’s and parmesan cream.

Guests could stop by the ‘street bar’ for espresso martinis or sip on flutes of champagne.

Music:

David Jones’ music director Johnny Seymour brought the event to life this season with an eclectic mix of globally recognised sounds, custom mixed for the runway.
