There’s a good reason why the name Glenn Nutley and the phrase “best in the business” are whispered on fashion shoots around the world.

Glenn is much more than just a makeup artist – he is an artisan with an eye for creating the visually extraordinary and The Carousel’s Beauty Editor. Here, Glenn gives us an inside look into his fabulous career…

How did you begin your career as a hair and makeup artist? Did you always know it was what you wanted to do?

I actually started working in a photo studio at 15 years old as a part time job while I was in high school. I wanted to be a photographer but found a passion for hair and makeup as well. When I finished high school I started working in a salon right away – it was a natural progression.

You have made some great achievements in your career, what are some of your favorites?

My first big break was a fashion editorial for Australian Vogue when I was about 19 years old. It was virtually unheard of for someone of that age to be working forVogue. Next, I left Australia and moved to Paris working on the shows for Paris Fashion Week which was really exciting and fun. I really enjoy the fast pace and creativity of  Runway.

What’s your favorite hairstyle you’ve created?

Miley Cyrus for the Oscars Vanity Fair Party… I just love the “old Hollywood” throw back hair, it was so glamorous and she looked so beautiful. But then I also really love raw natural looking hair too – the classic beach wave is one of my favorite looks as well.

So you’re working on Britney Spears’ Piece of Me show in Vegas right now. When did you start working with her?

I first started working with Britney at the start of 2011 when we shot the OUT Magazine cover. Since then we’ve done a lot of amazing things, X Factor, Scream and Shout Video’s, the Fantasy Twist perfume campaign, Shape Magazine cover, Oh La La music video, Britney Jean Album cover, Perfume music video and now the Vegas Show – just to name a few.

Does that take all your time or do you work with other clients?

No it’s not full time at all, I’m still doing a lot of other things, even the weeks when the show is on I’m back to LA for all the days off and working with other clients and jobs. Often we go to Vegas and back in the same day and fly out straight after the show.

What’s your favorite must have beauty product?

1. My Parlux blowdryer… I cant use any other one. I have an aussie one, a french one a brittish one and 3 US ones.

2. My beach waver… by sarah Potempa because i use it often for my 2 singature looks, the old hollywood wave and beach waves.

3. Oribe superfine hairspray… unbeatable.

4. Nars Orgasm, Laguna and Albatross combination of these three for highlight, contour and blush works for everyone!

5. Nars radiant creamy consealer. I could go on for days but they are my top 5!
