Cynthia Erivo Oscars Manicure

Best actress nominee Cynthia Erivo channeled Elphaba from “Wicked” in a stunning, deep emerald gown on the Oscars red carpet. And, although she didn’t takes home the best actress Oscar award (and achieve the rare EGOT – meaning she would have won all four of the biggest awards in entertainment: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony) we think she nailed her manicure just as perfectly as her frock!

Created by nail artist Mycah Dior (aka Clawz by Dior), Erivo’s OPI-polished nails were wickedly stunning. Think: dazzling green and gold, intricate 3D appliques, and details so precise that Glinda herself could have conjured them. “We wanted an ode to Oz, to Emerald City, and the gold and the guild,” Erivo revealed to red carpet reporters. And oh, did they nail it.

Mycah handcrafted and hand-painted each XL tip. Then, adorned them with luxe embellishments like glimmering chains, oversized gems, and delicate gold studs. But, the true time-turning moment? A tiny, sculpted gold watch with Roman numerals on her middle finger. “Everything is handmade – she made this clock,” Erivo explained, showing off the mini masterpiece. Time may fly, but this manicure is forever iconic.

Wicked fans will know that this isn’t the first time Erivo’s nails have cast a spell. In fact, throughout the movie’s months-long press tour, she has served up enchanted manicures. Complete with crystals, charms, and designs fit for the most stylish witch in Oz. But her Oscars set? Pure magic, no broom required.

“We knew this would be one of the last ones, so we wanted to make it special,” she says.

With a reflective gold chrome finish that shimmered under the lights like a pair of ruby – er, emerald – slippers, this was more than just a manicure. It was a red carpet statement that proved, even without an Oscar in hand, Cynthia Erivo is still the manicure main character.

Insider hack: If you don’t have 5 hours or a celebrity nail-artist to create these manicures, the OPI xPRESS/ONS from OPI are an amazing solution for a red carpet-ready look.
