The fact the Power Pony is both simple and stylish makes it popular among celebs, especially Ariana Grande, Kendall Jenner, Beyoncé and Gigi Hadid. This trend has been around for a while but remains high on the popularity chart. The added bonus is it’s considered the non-surgical/non-cosmetical version of a facelift. Step 1
Start by adding some texture into your hair with the Pure Hair Food Rough Your Hair Styling Matte Texture Paste, use your fingertips to warm the product first so it’s easier to apply and then rub it through your hair closest to your scalp. This added texture will allow your power pony to stay in place all day long.
Step 2
Next, gather your hair as high as you can towards the crown of your head. Make sure you pull your hair up and not back. It might feel very high to start with but the higher the better because even with industrial strength hair spray the Power Pony will naturally fall slightly.
Step 3
Use one hand to hold back your hair ready for the ponytail, use a bristle brush to smoothe out any bumps with the other hand to ensure a sleek smooth pony!
Step 4
Once you’ve got your desired Pony position, use an elastic to secure it in place. We recommend snagless elastics as you don’t have to worry about any breakage.
Step 5
If you want to stay as on-trend and chic as possible, use a comb to lift sections at the front of the hair and tug on them gently. If any hair comes loose, secure roughly with bobby pins for a fashion forward style. This is a more edgy approach if you want to spice up the slicked back style.
Step 6
Finally, add some volume and texture, as much or little as you desire, to your pony with the comb. Gently brush upwards until you are happy and then lightly spritz with a strong hold hairspray to control fly-aways and keep your Power Pony in place!
Now you are ready to slip on your little black dress, whack on some bold matte lipstick, add a feline flick to your eyes and you are good to go.
