How To Remedy An Iodine Deficiency

It might not be something you regularly monitor, or even think about but we’ve discovered that an iodine deficiency can have some pretty dramatic effects on your health and wellbeing. We enlisted the help of  QLD based company Divinita about the Norwegian brown algae seaweed superfood that is all the rage, and how it can benefit our health and boost our iodine levels – naturally.

The Australian Government commissioned research into the Prevalence and Severity of Iodine Deficiency in Australia and published their discoveries on the adverse effects of a deficiency in this important mineral in a public report. Australian soil is deplete in Iodine so you may not know that the government used to distribute Iodine amongst the population by adding it to unnatural fortified foods I.e. it was added to bread, milk and table salt. Although the intentions were good, many Australians suffered from hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid gland) as a consequence. This has since been stopped and Aussies just are not getting enough of this important mineral.

Low Iodine levels can be linked to struggles to lose weight, lethargy and constant sickness. Introducing more Iodine into your diet enables the body to produce hormones more efficiently, suppress your appetite and derive more nutrients from your food – naturally creating more energy.

Bondi Rescue Lifeguard Trent ‘Maxi’ Maxwell is a big fan of boosting his Iodine intake with brown algae supplements and has swapped his coffees for a natural and organic boost of Iodine from Divinita’s SourceEnergy, “my job is all about being on top of your game and ready for action all the time. Sometimes we are working 10-hour days, 6 days a week and looking at all the action on the sand as well as the surf. I’ve been using Divinita for a few months now and love the stuff! My energy has been at a peak getting me through a very busy Summer.”
