In their most recent get-together, Jo Lamble, TheCarousel.com Psychologist and host of The Moral Maze; Ronni Kahn, CEO and Founder of Australia’s largest food rescue organisation OzHarvest; Annalise Law, Managing Director of The Kanga Group, Australia’s leading promotional products group, and Robyn Foyster, Publisher of TheCarousel.com discuss the importance of having a mentor, and being one.

On being a mentor Ronni says “It’s something I do for love and as a way of giving back. And if somebody thinks I’ve got something I can help them with, then I’m only too happy.” Some of the attributes she suggests are good in a mentor is that they have already succeeded in doing what you are seeking guidance in, and that they have patience and time to spend with you, without giving advice or solutions.

Annalise points out that it doesn’t have to be a long-term commitment, it can be quite an informal arrangement over a couple of coffee meetings where questions are asked and experiences shared.

Robyn, a Telstra Influencer, includes her mother and grandmother as mentors – she points out that a mentoring situation is almost always mutually beneficial as both parties can learn from one-another.  She also recognises that Jo mentors people every day in her Psychology practice.

This conversation will fascinate anyone considering the importance of mentoring. To discover more, just watch this brief video.
