New Yo-Chi Flavour Ube

Their jam (errr… should that be dessert?) has never been boring, basic vanilla. However, cult frozen yoghurt chain Yo-chi’s newest drop is really all about the bold, the beautiful and the oh-so brilliantly photogenic. With a creation so pretty you’ll want to eat it with your camera first. The star of the swirl show this month is Ube – the vibrant purple potatey superstar yam that’s already a TikTok FYP fave.

Dropping on Thursday, October 16th, Yo-Chi is unleashing its limited-edition Ube frozen yogurt across stores nationwide. And, this is anything but your average root. Pronounced oo-beh, this naturally purple Filipino sweet potato has been turning heads globally for its subtle sweetness, nutty, earthy undertones. Plus, that unmistakable pastel lilac hue that practically screams Instagram me! Think pistachio meets vanilla with a tropical twist, and you’ve got the flavour profile that’s about to become your latest obsession.

If you’ve never met Ube before, here’s the quick lowdown. It’s a dessert staple in the Philippines, appearing in cakes, drinks, and all kinds of sweet treats. Its stunning purple colour comes naturally from anthocyanins. A fancy word for the same antioxidants that make blueberries and red cabbage so good for you. And now, Yo-Chi has brought it Down Under, transforming it into a creamy, indulgent frozen yogurt that’s as versatile as it is beautiful.

The best bit is that ube is the perfect base for some serious flavour experimentation. Start with a swirl of coconut flakes and banana for a tropical lift. Throw in freshly restocked blueberries for a pop of juiciness. And finish with a drizzle of caramel or white chocolate for that next-level indulgence. Go wild with mochi, nuts, or even a sprinkle of granola. The only rule is that your bowl has to look as good as it tastes!

According to Oliver Allis, Yo-Chi’s Brand Director, “A purple Filipino yam that tastes like an earthy mix of vanilla and pistachio. We had to get this to Yo-Chi! Introducing new, interesting flavours to our fans is what we love. We can’t wait to see everyone’s reactions to this incredible new flavour.” And honestly, who wouldn’t want to try something that’s equal parts pretty and premium?

Available for a limited time only at Yo-Chi stores across Australia, this drop is proof that life’s too short for plain. And in the world of frozen yogurt, this purple wonder reigns supreme.
