The swirl of gowns on the red carpet is over for another year with the 87th Academy Awards leaving behind its usual trail of elation and tears, winners and disappointments, frocks and shocks and moments galore.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Neil Patrick Harris had big shoes to fill taking the coveted role from Ellen DeGeneres, but he had his moments of comedy and dapper brilliance, while the big winners on the night of nights were the acclaimed Birdman – taking out Best Picture and The Grand Budapest Hotel. Both films took home a very deserving collection of four awards from a pool of nine nominations.
The dark horse was of course Boyhood, picking up a stellar win from a total of six nominations for Patricia Arquette’s as Best Supporting Actress. This modest film was guided for 12 years in production by the vision and creative mastery of Richard Linklater and who’s storytelling made us all fall in love with a little film about parenting.

Julianne Moore was as gracious as always in her acceptance speech for Best Actress for her role in Still Alice. Amidst drawing attention to the importance of visibility of people with Alzheimer’s disease, she also romanced the audience saying she once read that winning an Oscar adds five years to the winner’s life and crooned “If that’s true, I’d like to thank the Academy because my husband is younger than me.”

Presented by Cate Blanchett, the Best Actor in Lead Role went to Eddie Redmayne, The Theory of Everything for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking.
Of course no Oscars would be complete without a little comedic nudity and Neil Patrick Harris provided…
