Calling all cycling enthusiasts, October’s Sydney Rides Festival will host more than 30 family-friendly events celebrating all things with two wheels.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said that as the weather warms up, the four-week Sydney Rides Festival is a great opportunity to discover the city on two wheels.

“With winter behind us, spring will be the best time to get outside, get active and discover just how easy it is to travel through our city on a bike,”  she said.

“Cycling in Sydney is more accessible than ever. Over the past 10 years, we’ve established a regional cycling network of shared paths, quiet streets and 12 kilometres of safe separated cycleways. Bike trips through our city have more than doubled and City residents are riding at twice the rate of greater Sydney.

“The Sydney Rides Festival returns in 2018 – with more activities, events and opportunities for people to get on their bikes. Supporting people to ride is part of our plan to make Sydney a bike-friendly, green and connected city.”

Now in its 7th year, the festival saw more than 20,000 participants boost local businesses and tourism in 2017.

The 2018 festival program will include guided bike rides, workshops, a photography exhibition and a mass participation ride across the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
