Fuel for Skin

Coenzyme Q-10:

Coenzyme Q10 is a compound that produces energy in our cells. This enzyme is a natural antioxidant that protects the cells inside and outside from oxidative stress.

Our bodies produce the compound naturally, but as we age production decreases. Fostering C-10 production is essential to protecting skin health.

Creatine:

Another naturally found compound in the body creatine is an energy booster for the skin and muscles. Indeed some body builders have been known to take it as a supplement. Nivea skin scientists have found that combining Creatin and Coenzyme Q10 can increase collagen production by upwards of 24%.

Nivea’s Q10 Power Range combines these two ingredients to supercharge your bodies production of collagen. Skincare expert Robyn Hutch says “As we age, our skin naturally produces less Creatine and Q10, and our cells perform their functions less effectively. Nivea Q10 Power replenishes these important coenzymes and helps the skin make up for the age-related deficits on its own, boosting its natural Creatine storage.”

Nivea's comprehensive Q10 Power range includes two SPF dayncreams, a serum, a night cream and an eye cream.

Building blocks:

Think of Q10 and Creatine as the ingredients, and collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid as the plump, juicy cake. Collagen, Elastin and Hyaluronic acid are three components found in youthful skin, the production of which declines as we age.

Collagen:

The most abundant protein in our body it is integral to our connective tissues, provides our skin with its structure and strengthens our bones. It is no wonder then that as we age the first place it’s depletion is noticed is in our skin!

Elastin:

A protein found in the connective tissue that allows skin and muscle to bounce back after stretching.  Robyn Hutch describes elastin’s role as giving the skin its “spring and youthful elasticity.” It’s depletion is why we might begin to feel a “droop” in the skin as we age.

Hyaluronic Acid:

A molecule, you guessed it, also found naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid is extremely popular in skincare as it is lightweight and binds 1000 times its weight in moisture to the skin. As we age hyaluronic acid depletes which is why mature skin typically struggles to retain moisture.

Nivea scientists have found that the correct formulations can boost elastin production in the skin by up to 64%. Their new Cellular Filler range targets barrier repair, support hydration and encourage surface renewal for mature skin.
