In a revealing new shoot and interview for the U.S. Harper’s BAZAAR, the 47-year-old Friends star admits that she’s finally “got it all figured out”.
“I feel better in my 40s,” she says. “Not only do you feel better in your body physically but you’re mentally better.”
Jennifer says following a regular exercise regime is one of her biggest secrets to her success.
She starts her morning by running her “dogs through the garden” and gets down to the business of fitness after she’s finished her breakfast and coffee.
“I do 15 on the elliptical, 15 spinning, then I do 15 run,” she tells the magazine.
“And then I do portions of the Body by Simone DVD for floor work. It’s so freaking hard, it’s unbelievable.”
The fitness DVD by Simone De La Rue, below, is a favourite among the toned Tinseltown elite who swear by the personal trainer’s powerful dance cardio sweat sessions.
When it comes to diet, Jennifer said she avoids sugar and regularly eats a salad with protein, or a chicken burger and lettuce for lunch.
The newlywed also confesses that she is still disturbed by Hollywood’s attitude to older women: “There are women who’ve hit 50 who are stunners, like shocking,” she says.
“We just take better care of ourselves. I had somebody say to me, ‘Women these days in their 40s look pretty good!’ And this was a much older person. I mean, who says that?”
“For me, in my 30s I was just trying to figure it all out. Then when you hit 40, you’re like, ‘Oh, okay. I got this’.”
Jennifer also admits that laughter is another essential for feeling eternally young, something there’s no shortage of around her new husband Justin Theroux, 44.
“I’m lucky because Justin is the funniest person I’ve met, and we make each other laugh.
“Laughter is one of the great keys to staying youthful.”
