St Bride’s Church on Fleet Street in London has confirmed that Rupert, 84, and Jerry, 59, are holding a “wedding celebration” there on March 5, 2016.
Claire Seaton from St Bride’s says the couple will be married elsewhere, but “will be having a service to celebrate the marriage” in the church that describes itself as the spiritual home of the media.
The Christopher Wren-designed cathedral is in the heart of Fleet Street, where Rupert once based the UK division of his print empire before shuttering it in the late 1980s.
By 1989 all the British national newspapers had decamped as other print bosses followed Rupert’s lead and relocted.
This will be the owner of News Ltd’s fourth marriage after a whirlwind five-month courtship with the mother-of-four supermodel. They announced their engagement in January 2016.
Rupert’s first two marriages – to Patricia Booker in 1956 and to Anna Torv in 1967 – took place in Australia while his third, to Wendi Deng, was held on a yacht moored off Manhattan in 1999.
This will be Jerry’s first marriage. Her 1990 Balinese wedding ceremony with former partner Sir Mick Jagger was declared invalid, even though the couple were together for 22 years before splitting in 1999.
Meanwhile, Jerry is expected to return to Australia in late 2016 for a production of The Graduate, reprising her role as Mrs Robinson.
She has been playing the sultry seductress around the world, including stop-offs in Perth and Melbourne, for more than a decade.
The Sydney season, in December, is reportedly to be Jerry’s last appearance in the role.
