To commemorate Betty White’s ‘birthday week’ of celebrations, here’s a timely look back at just a few of her highlights from the last 12 months.
1. She made out with Hollywood hunk Bradley Cooper
During the 40th celebrations for Saturday Night Live, Betty locked lips with Bradley during a hilarious sketch.
2. Captain America escorted her to the People’s Choice Awards’ stage
Betty stole the show again at the 2015 awards when Captain America himself, Chris Evans, escorted her to the stage. Betty was there to receive the award for Favourite TV Icon when the gallant Chris immediately jumped up and helped her to the podium.
3. She got a lifetime achievement award…but hasn’t finished yet!
With a career that started in 1949, “I had no idea that I would still be around at this point, for one thing,” she told the Daytime Emmy’s crowd. “But that I’d still be privileged enough to still be in this business, and it is such a privilege.”
4. She toasted another hit comedy series
Betty’s long-running TV series Hot In Cleveland ended after 128 episodes, but “when we hugged at the end of the show, we just didn’t want to let go,” she told USA TODAY.
5. Oh, and she got right back to work on Bones
Betty sounded exactly like she knew what she was talking about, rattling off forensic jargon with aplomb as Dr. Mayer. “Work is just a joy,” she told USA TODAY. “I know it can’t go on forever, but I’m making the most of whatever comes along.”
Happy 94th Birthday, Betty! And many more …
