The Duchesse’s secret weapon, Bio Oil, has been revealed.

The pregnancy secrets of Duchesses are mysterious. I’ve always imagined that if I married a Prince, or even just someone in finance, my pregnancy elixir would be something extravagantly expensive – think Kate Moss using La Mer as her body moisturiser. However, a royal insider has revealed that the product Meghan Markle is relying on in the lead up to her pregnancy is available at local chemists.

The big secret:

As Meghan Markel moves into the final trimester of her pregnancy she has been using Bio Oil to improve the appearance of stretch marks. The royal insider who provided the scoop said the reasonably priced oil “does the job, without messing up Meghan’s clothes or five-star sheets”.

Bio Oil’s an Aussie favourite, we covered it just a few weeks ago in our summer skin roundup (here). The oil was created to target the appearance of stretch-marks and uneven skin tone. Australian GP’s consistently recommend Bio Oil for the treatment of all forms of scars, including stretch marks. The actives that make the product so effective include the patented BioCellin oil. BioCellin acts as a carrier for active ingredients that include Vitamin A and E along with Calendula, Rosemary, Lavender and Chamomile oil. The clinically proven treatment absorbs quickly and leaves a light pleasant scent and delicate sheen on the skin. It’s easy to see why its a favorite with Meghan and so many others.

Stretch marks are a common part of pregnancies and teen growth spurts. Approximately 80% of women will experience stretch marks during pregnancy. Stretch marks occur when the skin is placed under strain by sudden growth. Micro-tears are created as the skin is pulled taut, and as they heal they can scar. Hydrating the skin properly can prevent micro-tears responsible for stretch marks during periods of high growth. Bio Oil recommends applying the product twice daily in circular massaging movements to improve skin hydration and elasticity.
