Jaeger-Lecoultre watches were the accessory of choice at this years 2019 Oscars. Spike Lee, Nicholas Hoult, Barry Jenkins, Yorgos Lanthimos and Richard E. Grant all donned a Jaeger. Scroll down to see the male nominees and their accessories for the evening.
Spike Lee:
Spike Lee, Oscar Winner for ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’ for his movie “BlacKkKlansman” selected the Reverso Classic Medium Duoface Small Seconds timepiece from Jaeger-Lecoultre. He was also awarded, in the same category, at the last British Academy Film Awards. Remarkably it was Lee’s first Oscar win, the Reverso might become his lucky watch! Lee made a statement with the rest of his outfit too, dressed from head to toe by designers of colour. The nominee opted for a purple suit, as a tribute to Prince, by Ozwald Boateng (former Creative Director of Givenchy Men’s). He paid further homage to Prince wearing his “symbol”, that the late musician briefly used in lieu of his name. Jewelery designer Amedeo Scognamiglio created the custom piece for Lee. For footwear he kept it classic, with a pair of Lee Jordan’s designed by Tiner Hatfield. He quipped to The New York magazine that the Jordan’s were a centrepiece for his look and that he’d instructed Boateng “to make my pants high-waters so they can see the Jordans”.
Richard E. Grant:
Richard E Grant was nominated for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ in the movie “Can You Ever Forgive Me” and selected the Master Ultra Thin Date timepiece from Jaeger Lecoultre. Accompanied by his daughter on the carpet Grant wore a velvet jacket with contrasting lapel by Italian fashion designer Brunello Cuccinelli. The star was almost as excitable as fellow nominee Spike Lee – the British actor was so excited to be on American soil he announced plans to propose to Barbara Streisand.
Nicholas Hoult:
Nicholas Hoult from the film ‘The Favourite’ selected the Reverso Classic Duoface Large pink gold timepiece from Jaeger Lecoultre. The store wore a twist on the classic black tuxedo – an all black Dior with a swathed triple breast and intricate pleats. For a star of this years break out period-piece Hoult looked every bit the modern man.
Barry Jenkins:
American film director, producer, and screenwriter Barry Jenkins nominated for his movie “If Beale Street Could Talk” in the category “Best Adapted Screenplay, selected the Master Ultra Thin Small Second timepiece from Jaeger Lecoultre. He won, two days ago, in the category “Best Director” and “Best movie” at the Independent Spirit Awards. He was accompanied by his wife and fellow director LuLu Wang.
Yorgos Lanthimos:
Lanathimos’ film “The Favourite” was nominated for a collossal ten awards, including “Best Motion Picture”, “Best Achievement in Directing” and “Best Actress”. Lanthimos selected the Master Ultra Thin Moon timepiece. He was accompanied on the red carpet by his wife, actress Ariane Labed.
