With spring in the air it’s a wake-up call to start exercising in anticipation of summer.

For Lisa Patterson, co-founder of Cover Me Active, this was not an option. She had developed a problem in one of her feet which resulted in her needing cto wear a moon boot. Lisa has always been a lazy exerciser preferring to have a glass of wine at the end of the day over exercise. Restricted for over 6 months she found that once the moon boot was removed, she had lost most of the little muscle tone that she had.

Suddenly, she was faced with the challenge to start exercising or limit her mobility. In her 50’s, with the best years if her life ahead of her, Lisa decided that to do nothing was not an option.

With a background as a professional clothing buyer and shopper, she hit the shops with a mission to buy activewear. Especially as these were expenses, she could justify. She was frustrated. No matter where she looked, she could not find tops that covered her butt or with underarms that did not show off her underwear or leggings that did not need to be constantly hitched up.

Everything was either plus sized or for hard bodies. She ended up investing in plus sized outfits just to get the length but of course they were falling off her, making her look & feel dreadful. Not the positive experience she was looking for to get her in the right frame of mind for all that exercise.

So, she got thinking that surely, she wasn’t alone in feeling this way. What she found was that many women agreed. In conjunction with her co-founder Lisa Sweeney, they designed a range of leisure clothing, Cover Me Active.

Driven by the desire to see more women being comfortable, feeling covered and exercising, they developed a simple range of layered pieces allowing you to go from lattes to pilates. The high waisted leggings are in 4 way stretch & the tops in buttery soft bamboo fabrics.

The ranges sizing runs from 12 to 22 and caters for the real shape of women. Australian womens’ shapes and sizing dates back to the ark, not having been updated since the 40’s & 50’s. Many retailers continue to cater to the hourglass shape that no longer exists, or they are focused on hardbodies that are a distant memory. Prices are affordable ranging from $69.95 – 89.95

The Carousel founder Robyn Foyster says the Cover Me range is ideal for women of all shapes and sizes. “It’s super comfortable and feels great to wear,” she says. “The fabric is soft and feels luxurious to wear. I’ve never understood why there isn’t more out there in active wear from women in all sizes.”

Health and wellness is so important. We want to help people like me be active and look good” says Lisa Patterson. If you are unconvinced the team have shared 10 reasons why being active is good for you.”

Ultimately if our Cover Me Active range increase the percentage of women that are active then we will have achieved our goal”, says Lisa Sweeney
