Our brains are 70% fat based and therefore need fat. A deficiency in essential fats can affect our behaviour and ability to learn, while foods with anti-nutrients such as sugar and damaged fats can also have negative effects.

To help our brains, the nutritionists at Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat in the hinterland of the Queensland Gold Coast recommend these foods :
Brazil nuts, oysters, butter, seeds, eggs, tuna, broccoli, mackerel and wholegrains contain selenium while essential fatty acids are found in fish, flaxseed oil, nuts and seeds, beef, lamb, chicken and eggs.
