When my mother decided she wanted a Pandora gold bracelet for her 50th wedding anniversary, I was going to have to step up to the plate and do the background research for dad.

I asked a couple of colleagues about their Pandora jewellery and got some interesting replies. One lady explained the meaning behind a couple of her charms to me. She told me she preferred their hard bracelets over the chain ones. Another lady had stunning blue earrings that complemented her eyes.

The next step in my buying journey was to visit a Pandora shop. I dropped into my local shop for a quick look and was a little overwhelmed by the wide range. I was brave enough to collect a catalogue and ask a couple of questions. Of course, I got distracted with the items I liked. I started to lust after the silver Pandora O Necklace pendants. I discovered you can fit 7 charms on a large one, 5 charms on a medium one, and 3 charms on the small version.

I emailed my mum back with my findings. But she was insistent that she wanted a gold bracelet, as her mother had given her one as a baby. (I imagine it could have been a christening present, as this was one of the traditions back then). She wanted to know what charms I liked? Boy, that was a tricky one to shortlist.

I went back to my local Pandora to ask some more questions while they were quiet.  I admired the shop assistant’s necklace. She explained that it was a plaited leather choker (with a couple of charms), but you could also wear it double wrapped around your wrist.

I discovered that you can buy two charms (matching or asymmetrical) and add them to a hoop or hearts of love earring. There is also a range of classic studs and hanging earrings for pierced ears.

You’ll be relieved to know that if you order a charm in store, and they don’t have it in stock it can be posted to your house with free delivery. You can also exchange any purchase within 30 days, if you keep the receipt.

I’m not sure if dad will end up buying mum a gift, or if she’ll buy one for herself. Perhaps the extended family will all pitch in to buy a gift voucher. We’ll just have to wait and see – I don’t want to spoil the surprise.

Please leave a comment a let us know what jewellery you have bought to commemorate a special occasion in your life:
