Australia Is Finally Hosting First Ever Redhead Pride Rally
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

On the 16th of April, Australia’s first ever redhead pride rally will be hosted at Federation square in Melbourne from 10.30am. About time!

Hosts Buderim Ginger are calling all redheads, friends and family to come together to take a stand against bullying.

“Modelled on the highly successful Redhead Marches and related gatherings already happening in countries around the world, Australia will be the next to step up with its own Rally and finally celebrate the beauty of being a redhead.” Says Buderim Ginger Marketing Manager Jacqui Price.

Why? Because being a ginger at school was a struggle to say the least. People with red hair have unfortunately been the butt of jokes since the dark ages, especially youngsters at school – and Jacqui Price thinks “it’s time we say ENOUGH!”

Armed with flags and signs, redheads will take the city by storm and take their identity back.

The day will be led by renowned redhead Michael Beveridge, will feature free ginger beer, intense games of ‘Ginger Beer Pong’ and live music performances by band The Vanns. Other supporters of the festival include Bully Zero Australia Foundation and The Red and Nearly Ginger Association (R.A.N.G.A).

Bully Zero’s Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Oscar Yildiz JP, says that they are “excited to partner with Buderim Ginger to take a stand against bullying and celebrate the diversity of people that make up our community.”

Oscar Yildiz JP says that they plan to “make it very clear that bullying is never OK” and that they “hope the Ginger Pride Rally helps to foster acceptance and diversity in the community, because we should all celebrate and be proud of what makes each person an individual.”

People attending the festival are encouraged to donate a gold coin on the day but donations can also be made here at any time. All proceeds will be donated to Bully Zero.
