Not only is Jules a TV presenter, stylist and blogger, but she’s also now ambassador for leading online fashion and homewares retailer Ozsale.
However she wouldn’t have it any other way.
We recently caught up with Jules who lets us in on what to look out for in spring fashions, how she manages motherhood to sons Hudson, 5, and Archer, 2, and how her superstar hubby Guy Sebastian has come a long way …
What will be the hottest fashion trends for spring and summer?
Whenever the sun is shining people embrace colour more. This season there will be a lot of muted and softer shades coming through. Think pastels, blush pink, apricot and baby blue. I really love the work of Aussie designer Josh Goot who currently has a trench coat on Ozsale which is a pale blue which I adore because it’s a pretty, feminine shade. Also I think styles in general will be loose and relaxed. Fashion these days is more simple and less flamboyant than it once was. People just want something that’s easy going.
What’s your fashion advice for mums who are stuck in a rut, either with casual gear or their work wear?
Firstly I always say you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort’s sake. Like there’s no need to wear a tracksuit all the time. You can actually get stylish casual wear that is oversized and stretchy which will still feel comfortable but will look great as well. Today I’m wearing a pair of opaque leggings with a loose denim dress which looks and feels good. For women who may be in a habit of wearing nothing but black to the office, I say start introducing bits of colour like a patterned scarf, a great chunky necklace or a colourful pair of shoes.
What kind of fashion sense does Guy have? Do you choose his outfits?
Guy is naturally quite a stylish man so he really doesn’t need my help! He actually loves shopping for clothes. He’s in Los Angeles at the moment with his best friend who just sent me a picture of them shopping. The text read, ‘Help, why are two blokes out shopping?!’ His poor friend isn’t into it at all! I used to style Guy for things like red carpet appearances which was fun, but I just leave him to it now.

Does motherhood and all the balls you have to juggle ever stress you out?
It used to stress me out a lot more than it does now. I used to think that being stressed and highly strung was the only way to be. As in if you’re stressed and busy you think you’re somehow achieving more and very accomplished. However recently I decided I didn’t want to live like that. I took a chill pill and made a conscious decision to not take on too much and it’s such a better way to live. I now think if I don’t get that thing done today the world won’t end. It will eventually get done. Also the great thing about getting older is that you get a bit wiser. Things that seemed so important in the past, just aren’t as important anymore. I think being stressed and busy should not be a medal of honour!
So how do you now balance your schedule?
It’s all about prioritising. I love working but if I’m doing something which doesn’t feel right, and I can’t be with my kids for the most part, then I decline and say no. I love tucking my kids into bed at night and getting them up in the morning so I do my utmost to be back by the end of the day or to only be away for one night if need be. We don’t have family living near us in Sydney which can be hard, but I do have a great nanny who’s been a big help.
Not long ago Guy did a radio interview where he said when the pair of you first met he didn’t think you were “that hot”. Were you shocked when he said that?
The thing is we got together when we were just 14-years-old. It’s been a looong time. We were so young back then I can’t really blame him for saying that! Neither of us really had it together or cared too much. However I knew what he was trying to say and he wasn’t being mean to me. I actually thought it was kind of funny how everyone else over reacted and thought we would have a big fight about it. And while I sort of brace myself whenever he does interviews now, there’s no hard feelings!
