We chatted to Matt with the news still fresh at last night’s announcement in Sydney. Here’s our five minutes with the hottest eligible bachelor in Australia…

Q. Were you expecting to win?

“No, not at all, to be honest! I thought a few of the popular boys like Taylor Henderson or Ryan Ginns would win. I was pleasantly surprised.”

Q. What are you going to do with the prize money?

“I think I owe a few of the boys at the club a brekkie or two. It has been a pretty frantic half an hour so I am not too sure… I know that I will definitely spend it wisely.”

Q. Any plans for 2016?

“I am still with the Giants, so training – pre-season just kicked off two weeks ago. Hopefully we will try and get as fit as we can and have a good season. Then I will definitely use that Topdeck holiday to Vietnam in the off-season so that I can really make the most of it.”

Q. What’s been the highlights of your Bachelor experience?

“Tonight has been the main highlight obviously, but I also found the shoot really enjoyable which was a surprise to me. It has been a good night meeting all of the boys properly – we only get one shoot so I hadn’t really met them before. I talked a few of the guys backstage and they were lovely blokes so might catch up with them soon.”
