Raf Simons has been worked hard on redefining a womanly silhouette with all of his collections, since taking reign at the House of Dior in 2012, and this show was no different.
Large skirted dresses with a demure bustline, featuring a small waist opened the show and set the tone for the looks to follow. Easy luxury is achieved with both long and short dresses, pant suits and stand out coats for the upcoming northern hemisphere’s winter.
Simons has managed to single-handedly revive the heeled slingback as the shoe du jour which works so well with his beautifully structured, ultra feminine designs. He’s also trying to resurrect the pants-under-dresses look (which I think only Emma Watson embraced with a dismal result last Awards season), but may have more luck with this more wearable, modern version of tailored pants under long, lean coats. Talking of coats, he may have created an It Coat out of the coloured, embellished, 3/4 styles which will work throughout the year as well as over Autumn/Winter. We predict it as the cult product to watch.
The biggest thing to celebrate? It’s finally high fashion to wear a bright shoe with a neutral outfit. We’ve all been doing this for years of course, just without the designer blessing!
