New Beauty Brand Alert: Trouble Maker Is About to Take Over Your Trolley

UK beauty brand Trouble Maker is officially landing in Australia this month. And it’s chaotic and charming, as the name suggests.

Wait, What Is Trouble Maker?

Trouble Maker builds its entire range around original characters, each with its own backstory, likes, dislikes, friends and enemies, rather than treating products as, well, products. It’s part beauty brand, part collectible universe, and the result sits closer to unboxing a toy than restocking a makeup bag.

Originating in the UK as a social-first, character-driven beauty concept, Trouble Maker has built a following on the idea that makeup can be play rather than performance – colour and a bit of chaos, minus the pressure to look “perfect.”

The Australian Launch, Explained

Trouble Maker is rolling out across more than 400 Kmart and Target stores nationwide, bringing 78 SKUs spanning lips, complexion, eyes and beauty accessories. Leading the range is Feral Teddy, the brand’s mischievous blind-box character, with nine different versions to collect – a direct play on the blind-box and collectible-culture obsession sweeping gaming, fashion and toys.

It’s a considered bet: Trouble Maker knows this is a generation raised on collectibles, gaming and social-first storytelling, and it’s wagering that beauty can tap into that same “gotta catch them all” pull.

“Trouble Maker is exactly the kind of brand we see resonating strongly in the Australian market — it’s fun, inclusive and designed for real life play, not perfection,” says Nick Chadwick, founder of distributor Beauty Connections. “The combination of accessible price points, high impact story telling and genuinely engaging product personalities makes it a standout for retail.”

Brand founders Adam and Sally Minto put it simply: “We created Trouble Maker to make beauty feel fun – not intimidating, not perfect, just playful.” Every product has its own personality because we wanted people to feel like they’re choosing characters, not just cosmetics.”

Why It’s Worth Paying Attention To

Beauty aisles have leaned heavily premium and near-identical for a while now, which makes Trouble Maker’s positioning stand out: affordable, accessible and unpretentious, built around self-expression rather than an unattainable idea of “perfect.” Given the price point and retail footprint, it’s also about to be very easy to get hold of.
