The beauty industry in 2026 is entering its considered era. After years of chasing overnight transformations and complicated routines, the conversation around skin care is becoming more thoughtful. We are looking beyond the latest trend and asking a more meaningful question: what does our skin actually need?

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

For cosmetic physician Dr Saba Qutub, this question has shaped more than two decades of work in medicine, beauty and wellbeing.

Dr Qutub’s journey began in a small city in India, where she grew up dreaming of exploring the world beyond what she knew. After graduating in medicine, she took the opportunity to continue her career in Australia – a move that would become the beginning of a journey spanning clinical practice, entrepreneurship, education and skin care.

A qualified and registered Australian medical practitioner, Dr Qutub has been working in clinical practice since 2005. She continued her training in Australia, completing the Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRANZCOG) in 2009 and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2012, before expanding her expertise into cosmetic medicine and nutritional and environmental medicine.

But her path was not a straight line. Like many entrepreneurs, Dr Qutub’s early experiences in business came with lessons. Her first venture, ANYWORK, gave her insight into the complexities of building a small business and laid the foundation for what came next. She later co-founded and grew Skin Sensational, before establishing Armstrong Health, where she continues to practise clinically while leading the business.

It was through years of working closely with patients that Dr Qutub identified a shift in what people were searching for. They wanted skin care that felt intelligent and effective – products supported by science, but also simple enough to become part of everyday life.

That idea became the foundation of Dr.SQ Skincare, which launched in 2017.

Dr.SQ Skincare

Rather than creating an endless collection of products, Dr Qutub focused on a more intentional approach: understanding the skin, choosing clinically supported ingredients and developing formulas designed to work alongside the skin’s natural processes.

Today, that philosophy can be seen across the Dr.SQ Skincare range. The collection is built around the idea that skin care should feel like a ritual – a few considered steps that support healthier, stronger skin over time.

Among the standouts is Active A, a precision multi-active serum featuring 0.25% retinaldehyde, a form of vitamin A known for supporting skin renewal. The formula combines retinal with ingredients including niacinamide, peptides and antioxidants, creating a targeted approach to improving the appearance of texture, uneven tone, congestion and fine lines while supporting overall skin clarity.

For evening routines, Regenox Night Cream reflects Dr Qutub’s belief in the importance of supporting the skin while it repairs and restores overnight. The peptide-rich formula hydrates and nourishes the skin while helping improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, supporting a firmer, more elastic-looking and even complexion.

The everyday foundations of the collection also include Hydracleanse, a gentle cleanser designed to support a healthy skin barrier while effectively cleansing, reinforcing the brand’s belief that great skin begins with the basics.

This considered approach feels particularly aligned with where beauty is heading. As consumers become more ingredient-conscious, there is growing appreciation for expertise, transparency and products that serve a genuine purpose.

For Dr Qutub, skin care has always been about more than appearance. Alongside her medical practice and businesses, she is also an author, health coach and keynote speaker, sharing her knowledge across skin health, wellbeing and entrepreneurship. Her work explores the connection between skin, mind and body – recognising that confidence often comes from feeling cared for as a whole.

The brand’s latest evolution introduces a refreshed identity and digital experience, reflecting the changing relationship people have with skin care. Today’s consumer does not just want to know what they are using; they want to understand why.

That pursuit of knowledge has always been central to Dr Qutub’s work. Her approach combines the precision of medicine with the personal nature of a daily beauty ritual – creating a space where science and self-care can exist together.

The beauty industry has celebrated Dr.SQ’s journey, with the brand taking home six accolades at the 2026 Beauty Shortlist Awards, including recognition for its SPF and retinal formulations. Dr Qutub’s entrepreneurial vision has also been recognised, earning her titles including Women Entrepreneur of the Year (Australia), alongside Gold Health Business and Multicultural Business Excellence awards.

From a young girl in India dreaming of a bigger future to a doctor, entrepreneur and founder shaping the conversation around clinical beauty in Australia, Dr Qutub’s Dr.SQ Skincare story is ultimately one of curiosity, determination and purpose.

And perhaps that is what makes the future of skin care so interesting – it is becoming less about perfection, and more about understanding ourselves, our skin and the rituals that help us feel our best.
