Gen Z Don’t Always Do Things Better … But, Exfoliating is One of Them!

Physical v Chemical Exfoliation

As an official card-carrying holder of Gen Y, I will die on the hill that those of us born between 1982 and 1994 had the market cornered when it comes to trends (cargo pants, crops and strappy stilettos – name a more iconic combo?), tech (think flip phones adorned with rhinestones), tunes (like, actual rock bands) and really good recipes that didn’t rely on TikTok (instead, we read real-life books!). But, when it comes to skin care, specifically scrubbing, Gen Z is running rings around Millennials – having won the physical v chemical exfoliation debate and mastered the way they slough off dead skin.

And, so, to celebrate their innovative approach to exfoliation, Urban Jungle’s latest release is talking the language of those who are used to swiping right to find the perfect match. Except, this time it’s all about falling in love with a scrub that delivers the smooth, hydrated glow your skin deserves.

Let’s (not) get physical

Skin care trends are shifting. And, what’s rising to the top is gentle chemical exfoliation. Physical exfoliants, like harsh scrubs and gritty cleansers, are being swapped for smoother, more effective alternatives. And, Gen Z is leading the charge. A TikTok search for #ChemicalExfoliation yields thousands of results, where users share how their skin has transformed by ditching abrasive scrubs in favour of gentle yet potent exfoliants like Swipe Right.

The buzz around chemical exfoliants is supported by key stats: 73% of Gen Z shoppers are actively seeking skin care products that feature powerful active ingredients like acids or enzymes for better results. Additionally, 57% of Gen Z beauty consumers believe that body care should be just as effective as facial care. What’s not to love about a formula that works equally well on your face and your body?

Swiping right on exfoliation 2.0

Given that the days of harsh (ahem apricot kernel) scrubs that leave your skin feeling more like sandpaper than silk, have gone the way of Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey’s marriage (RIP), the Swipe Right Liquid Exfoliant by Urban Jungle has entered the chat. And, with it brought a gentle yet powerful 3% PHA formula that dissolves dead skin cells, unclogs pores, and tackles stubborn rough patches. It works its magic without the irritation of physical exfoliants, delivering smoother, brighter skin while boosting hydration.

And, because exfoliation isn’t just about the face anymore (Gen Z is all about full-body care) this product goes beyond face value. Responding to the viral TikTok #BodyCare movement – which encourages users to lavish the same attention on their arms and legs as they do on their face – the Swipe Right formula caters to this trend with its ability to smooth bumpy arms, soften legs, and hydrate dry elbows.

Must-have ingredients

What’s the secret sauce behind Swipe Right Liquid Exfoliant? It’s all about the ingredients.

  • PHA (Polyhydroxy Acid). Think of PHA as your skincare BFF, working tirelessly to gently exfoliate and brighten your complexion without irritating sensitive skin. It’s like the ultimate wingman for smooth, radiant skin.
  • Allantoin. This soothing powerhouse protects your skin while it undergoes a little exfoliation. Allantoin encourages natural skin renewal, making sure your skin is both calm and refreshed.
  • Geranium Flower Oil. Besides smelling absolutely divine, this oil adds a touch of luxury to your skincare routine. It elevates the Swipe Right experience, leaving you with a fresh, floral scent every time you apply.
