The reality TV superstar shares an image of the freeze-dried placenta pills on Twitter, bearing the label ‘Your Amazing Placenta’.
Writing on her blog, she goes into further detail about her after-birth eating experience, claiming she feels energised as a result.

“I’m really not this holistic person or someone who would have ever considered eating my placenta,” says Kim, who gave to her baby boy on December 5.
“I heard so many stories when I was pregnant with North of mums who never ate their placenta with their first baby and then had postpartum depression, but then, when they took the pills with their second baby, they did not suffer from depression.

“So I thought, ‘Why not try it? What do I have to lose?’”
Her sister Kourtney also ate placenta pills and gushed about their virtues following the birth of her own child 11 months ago.
“No joke… I will be sad when my placenta pills run out,” she wrote on Instagram.
“They are life changing!”
Other celebrity mums endorsing the bizarre ritual include actress Alicia Silverstone, Hugh Hefner’s ex Holly Madison and January Jones, of Mad Men fame.
“It’s not witch-crafty or anything! I suggest it to all mums,” January told People magazine.

The practice of eating your own placenta is called “placentophagy”.
While some people swear by its health benefits, there is no scientific proof to back up the claims.
Commenting on a review into published research studies on placentophagy, Louise Silverton, Director for Midwifery at the Royal College of Midwives in the UK, said: “As this paper finds there is little or no evidence around women eating their placenta. Indeed as it suggests, there may be potential dangers in doing so, though again there is no evidence to support that either.
“As a result midwives will not advise women about eating their placenta because of this lack of evidence, and it must be the woman’s choice if she chooses to do so.
Women should be aware that like any foodstuff, placentas can go off, so care will be needed about how they are stored.”
