Don’t let her demure, red-carpet appearance deceive you! If Selena Gomez‘s workout of choice is anything to go by, then the former Disney diva has really got the “Big Hit” Market cornered. I would know, because last week I tried the very same Rumble boxing class that Ms G (and Justin Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Jason Derulo and Kevin Hart) all swear by. And let’s just say, it packed a punch … literally!

Let’s get ready to Rumble!

Walking into the Rumble’s Bondi studio (my closest, do visit doyourrumble.com.au to find your nearest location) felt like stepping into a nightclub, complete with dimmed lights, pulsing music, and an electric vibe. But make no mistake. This wasn’t your average dance floor. At its heart, Rumble Boxing is a fusion of boxing, HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), strength training, and metabolic conditioning. The workout is divided into 10 rounds: half spent boxing and the other half dedicated to resistance training.

The class is led by trainers who double as motivational speakers and part-time DJs. Our instructor, was an absolute dynamo, seamlessly mixing technical boxing tips with energizing pep talks. Each punch, jab, and hook felt like it was choreographed to the beat of custom mash-ups that ranged from Cardi B to old-school bangers.

As someone with zero boxing experience, I appreciated the inclusivity. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned fighter, the vibe is all about collective energy and mutual encouragement.

Hit for six

Rumble’s structure is as simple as it is brutal: six punches, killer combos, and sweat-soaked glory. The boxing portion has you working through drills on a bag – jabs, hooks, uppercuts – all designed to ignite your arms, core, and upper body. Between shadowboxing and bag work, my arms were screaming by round three.

Then came the resistance training. Dumbbells in hand, we moved through circuits targeting the lower body, arms, and abs. It wasn’t long before I understood why Selena and her fellow A-listers swear by this workout. By the end of the session, my muscles were on fire, and I had a newfound respect for every celebrity who keeps up with this routine.

Rumble’s HIIT intervals ensured no muscle group was left untouched. Quick bursts of intense work were followed by brief recovery periods that had me panting like I’d just run a marathon. It was tough, but the collective energy in the room kept me going.

Heavy hitter

This workout pushes you to your limits, but that’s where its magic lies. While I’d rate the difficulty a solid 8/10, the beauty of Rumble Boxing is that you can adjust the intensity to suit your fitness level. Don’t want to go all-in on your first try? No problem. Just follow the rhythm and find your own pace.

The playlist and atmosphere make it easier to forget how hard you’re working. Each track seemed perfectly timed to lift the room’s energy just when it was needed most. And, when the final bell rang, I felt a wave of accomplishment (and relief).

A knockout blow

From the thumping music to the inclusive, celebratory vibes, it’s no wonder this Selena Gomez workout approved class has amassed a cult-like following among celebs and fitness enthusiasts alike.

Whether you’re looking to torch calories, build strength, or simply feel like a badass for 45 minutes, Rumble delivers. Plus, with their “first class free” offer, there’s no excuse not to give it a try.

As for me, I walked in a curious newbie and left feeling like a (very sweaty) champion. While my muscles were sore for days, the rush of accomplishment was absolutely worth it. Just call me Ms Gomez – V2.0
