Lauren Hannaford Shows Us How To Stay Fit
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Lauren Hannaford is a former Wiggles Character, Dorothy the dinosaur, elite gymnast and fitness model, so she knows a thing or two about endurance and fitness. Who better to share some top fitness tips?

Our next break is just around the corner. It’s that time of year spend quality time with family and friends over a meal and a drink…or most probably a few!  Even if your workout routine doesn’t take a back seat, it will be challenged with an overload of sensory flavours.

Easter Fitness Plus Balance

The key to staying on top of holiday fitness and resisting over-indulgence of food is knowing to maintain balance.

It’s most likely many of us will be tempted to take the foot off the break and enjoy the festive season. I know I will – it’s totally normal. Just remember, you don’t want to go overboard and ruin all your hard work and results!

Try forward planning. You can do this by mitigating your indulgence a little in the lead up to your break. Like everyone else, I too will be busy celebrating my family and friends and eating more chocolate than normal!

Tips to Stay Fit For Easter

So, really think ahead and plan! In the weeks leading up to Easter, I ensure my training is regular and my food choices are a healthy option. There are times I will crave some type of “bad food” and I’ll remind myself to consider the hard work out I just did and consume a smaller portion instead. It’s okay to reward yourself, but make sure your training does not take a step backwards.

Mindful Easter Eating

With no shortage of chocolate and hot cross buns on Easter Sunday, my top tip is to be conscious of how many you eat and aim to replace these temptations with your regular, healthy snacks, or a piece of fruit and plenty of water. Staying hydrated will help stop sugar cravings.

Also, make sure that every other meal you eat over Easter is healthy and in sync with your workout and fitness/health program. Make sure you give your body the nutrients it needs. If you constantly remind yourself about ‘balance’ then you won’t have to work that much harder on the treadmill to undo all the bad food you ate and all those extra calories.

So enjoy yourself this Easter, I know I’m going to, but remember to think ahead, add a pitch of balance to that cheeky meal and when Easter is over you will feel really proud that you were able to have a guilt free Easter celebration!

Have a Happy BALANCED Festive Season!
