Never pulled on a wig before? Well you aren’t alone – until recently, neither had Aussie singer/performer Alli Simpson. Excited to try out a new hairstyle – minus the scissors and dye – Beauty Editor Glenn Nutley let her in on the professional dos and don’ts in the world of wigs.

Mega-stars Lady Gaga, Katie Perry and Rihanna are all famous for their regular ‘do’ transformations, occasionally even mid-concert – and Gwen Stefani has also been known to wig-it-up for the red carpet. It’s a fun way to add interest to your look – whether it’s for a special event or as a clever bad-hair-day cover up! But the tricky bit is getting the wig to look natural and stay put all day and night.
Starting with minimising the volume of your own hair, Glenn teaches Alli how to hide her own long thick tresses under a wig cap – sounds unlikely, but believe us, she even pulled off looking good in that! Then there are the toupee snap-clips, the hair-pins and the glue (yes, you read that right). And when they’re finished … in Alli’s very own words “I look like a different person. That’s so cool!”.
