Want Brighter Skin? You’ll Love These Whitening Beauty Products

It’s the kind of product that always sells out in Asia and finally they’re starting to take off on Aussie shores. Pigmentation is the most obvious sign of sun damage and ageing, and the new wave of whitening products are ace at brightening (not scarily bleaching) your complexion. Read on for my favourite products that have hit the market recently.

Cleanser

No one does a facial cleansing oil like Shu Uemura, and they’ve just launched one specially formulated to target pigmentation and redness. Special ingredients such as olive and boldo leaf help to reduce red tones in skin and correct yellowed skin so you’re left with a brighter face. Try shu uemura blanc:chroma cleansing oil, from $39

Mask

Fans of the culty French brand Nuxe – I’m talking to you! For a lit-from-within glow, you’ll love their cotton sheet masks loaded with vitamin c. Even after one use, you’ll be left with improved skin clarity, faded pigmentation and more radiant skin all over. Try Nuxe White Brightening Perfecting Masks, $49.99 (Available May)

Moisturiser

Sunscreen is so important all year round, as any sort of sun exposure (yes, even walking to the bus stop) contributes to ageing in the form of fine lines and dark spots. This lightweight lotion is great for applying before foundation as it melts straight away into skin and improves overall texture and tone. Try Shiseido White Lucent All Day Brightener SPF15, $65

For something more heavy-handed, this Jurlique cream will do the trick. The ingredient citrus unshiu peel will target dark spots and prevent skin hyperpigmentation, so pop it over freshly cleansed skin (and on top of a serum if you like) for hydrated and clearer skin in the morning. Try Jurlique Purely White Skin Brightening Night Cream, $79

Serum

An illuminating serum is what you need to further boost brightness levels in skin. This one sinks deep into skin and exfoliates, smoothes and targets dark spots for improved skin results in just 2 weeks. Try Olay Regenerist Luminous Tone Perfecting Treatment, $57.99

Spot treatment

I call this my miracle cream, because it seriously works wonders. Use this updated formula on pigmented areas such as over freckles everyday, and watch the spots lighten in just a couple of days. Try Lancome Blanc Expert Melanolyser [AI] Intense Whitening Spot Eraser, from $135
