It’s Easter Show time in Sydney, but that means even more crowds than usual. For a quick and close break from the crowds in Australia’s busiest city, Sydney locals only need to drive for an hour and a half for a quiet retreat in the Blue Mountains. The walking tracks in Wentworth Falls will take you past cascading waterfalls and reveal panoramic views of the Three Sisters. If you’d rather skip the walk you can take in the view from the Echo Point Lookout. Pack a picnic and take it to the Botanic Gardens where there are a variety of native finches and the last of the summer flowers in bloom. It’s Easter, so chocolate is a must and the foggy mountain days create a great excuse to find a cafe and warm up with a steaming hot chocolate.

For Sydneysiders wanting to stay closer to home but enjoy the luxury of diving into a pool or being beachside, pack your bags for Bondi.

Brisbanites

Brisbane locals hoping to get their toes sandy are in luck! There are still rooms available at the Gold Coast during the long weekend. Relaxing by the pool with a cocktail in hand or spreading a towel out on Broadbeach are just a few ways to kick back and relax during the Easter break.

If you want to wake up to buffet breakfast and city views but without the drive, why not stay in Brisbane’s city centre. You’ll have shops and bars right at your doorstep without the hassle of city parking or waiting for the bus or train. Just across the river at South Bank you’ll find markets with hand crafted goodies on Good Friday and cafes selling chocolate treats open on the weekend, including San Churro South Bank. It’s been a very long summer, so Southbank pools will still offer an appealing option for the kids.

Melbournites

Act like a tourist in your own town when you escape to Melbourne’s seaside playground of St Kilda for the long weekend. There are plenty of cosy cafes and restaurants along Fitzroy and Acland Street that will satisfy your appetite for brunching, lunching, afternoon tea and dinner.

Wander between stalls at the iconic St Kilda Esplanade Markets and find jewelry, artwork and knick knacks to take home on Sunday. There’s Easter fun for the kids at Luna Park with Easter egg hunts and the Easter Bunny has even promised to appear on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

Adelaidians

Take your bestie or plus one and settle in to luxury with a 4.5 or 5 star stay in Adelaide’s CBD. You’ll get that holiday feeling with slippers and a robe in your room and a pool and spa to relax in. Enjoy room service or wander out and pick up a warm soup, fresh pastries or falafel on Saturday at the Adelaide Central Market. You’ll also be in walking distance of delicious German food, beer and Bavarian dancing part of the Volkstanzfest at the German Club.

You don’t need to go far for that holiday feeling, visit Wotif for your Easter staycation or drivecation.
