Hollywood is a long way from Summer Bay! But that’s exactly where Sharni Vinson, 31, has ended up.
With a starring role in the $160million grossing movie, Step Up 3D and follow up roles in Bait and No Man’s Land, this actress and dancer shares her style secrets with The Carousel.
When did your career start?
Growing up in a musical family I caught the entertainment bug early so I have been acting, singing and dancing from a very young age.
What is your favourite role you have played?
My favorite role so far has been Erin in ‘You’re Next’. I played an Australian survivalist who fights back against home intruders which meant lots of physical work and stunt training which I love! Aside from that, it was also the best cast and crew I’ve ever worked with making the entire experience so enjoyable.
What is your ultimate career dream?
A career dream for me is to revisit my musical roots and do a film adaptation of one of my favorite broadway shows. I’d love to sing and dance again. I also grew up on horses and in the ocean everyday, so finding a Pirate action thriller or a western period piece would be fun! I love action and physical roles.
What have you been working on lately?
I recently got back from China where I was lucky enough to work with Jackie Chan on his latest action adventure film, ‘Dragon Blade’. It’s only a small role, however a big dream fulfilled in getting to work with Chan whom I’ve admired for a long time. The film releases in Feb 2014 on the 1st day of the Chinese New Year.

I thought it started long ago, then I look back at pictures and am like “What was I thinking!?” I think for me the game changer was a couple years ago when I met Roberto Cavalli and got a taste of what real fashion is all about.

My most fabulous fashion moment was … having Roberto Cavalli personally dress me in Milan in one of his gowns for fashion week.
