Secret Tricks From A Makeup Pro

From blue-hued nudes to eye shadow scattered through your scalp, Amy shared her top secret tricks, some which will surprise you.

Blue For The Perfect Nude

“All the reds and corals and brights are always very requested, but when women are after the perfect nude, it’s actually a blue / brown tone. The brown looks very natural, that’s their nude base. The blue is kind of in the same group as navy eyeliner – it helps brighten the eyes. If you put blue near the lips it makes the teeth look whiter, so women love the flattering finish of a nude that actually makes their smile look brighter. You need a bit of blue in it; yes you can have a good amount of beige but that can almost be too skin-like, and then if you naturally suffer from a lot of redness, pink can not be a good go-to shade. This Blush Lipstick has the perfect balance of a little bit of a browny pink with a hint of blue in there to keep it really fresh. Blue tones will definitely suit everyone, I’ve found that I’ve tried this on every woman and it works as a beautiful nude on everyone.”

Blue And Plum For The Eyes

“It’s kind of like the old trend of blue mascaras, the reason they were so popular is because they gave the illusion of a whiter eye, which then gives the illusion of a brighter eye colour because it helps it stand out. So you can do a similar effect now, although not to that extreme, with a navy or plum near the eye. It’s way softer than black, way softer than brown and it enhances. A navy eyeliner just behind the eye looks stunning. Still always do black mascara – I’m all for jet black black mascara!”

Face Oil For Strobing

“Face oil is great for strobing. A lot of women are going for shimmer, which is fine, but shimmer looks glittery on the skin and it can be hard to get that strobing effect with it. The difference with strobing and highlighting is strobing literally looks like you have this watery complexion on the surface of your skin, really fluid and wet-looking – and Face Oil gives you that illusion. You press a little bit of Face Oil on top of makeup – so whenever I’m going out and I want that full on strobe, I push it in the right areas; so on the highest points of the cheek, a little bit on the nose, chin just to give that dimension to the face. I pop it underneath my makeup too – I like to mix it in with my tonics and let it sink in.”

Eye Shadow For Your Scalp

“Every time Bobbi does a TV appearance, we have to colour in her scalp. When you have such a golden skin tone, your scalps’ not naturally golden, our scalps are really white and porcelain, so you literally just go in with your brow colour and push that through. It makes the hair look fuller and completely blends.”
