The 42-year-old America’s Next Top Model host confirmed the happy news of baby York’s arrival as she shared a photo of the newborn’s pink and blue striped hospital hat.
“The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here,” she writes on Instagram.
“He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone.
“York Banks Asla, welcome to the world.”
Although she’s yet to release a picture of her son, Tyra tells People magazine that she is beyond excited about her new bundle of baby joy.
“The journey to now has not been an easy process, as I’ve shared before. But there was a beautiful bright light at the end of the tunnel for me and his father, Erik.
“As I gaze into the beautiful eyes of my son, I think about all the people who struggle with fertility or carrying a child and continue to pray for them every day.
“My hopes and dreams are filled with well wishes that they get to feel what my little treasure, York Banks Asla, feels like in my arms.”
Tyra broke down in tears on her recently cancelled FABLife show as she hit out at social media bullies who constantly demand to know why she has not had any children.
The star, who has had failed IVF treatments, made the emotional proclamation after American model Chrissy Teigen brought up the subject of her own fertility troubles.
Tyra said: ‘I’m so tired of seeing on my social media, “why don’t you have kids, why don’t you have kids?” ‘You don’t know, you don’t know what I’m going through. You have no idea.’
She then explained how she had been certain she would have a large family for her whole life, and was shocked when it did not turn out that way.
“For a long time, it was so funny, I was 23-years-old, I used to tell myself “in three years I’m going to have kids.
“Then I turned 24, “in three years I’m going to have kids.” Every single year I just kept saying that. And then after a while it’s like, now I want to, it’s not so easy.”
Tyra and Erik, who is 10 years her senior, met on the set of Norway’s version of Next Top Model three years ago and have been together ever since.
