Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel contains hyaluronic acid, your best face-friend right now – it’s insanely hydrating, and provides all the moisture you need for any season.

Scent: Fresh and clean with a hint of cucumber

What it does: A feather light moisture gel that provides long lasting hydration to the skin with a non-greasy finish and SPF15.

Key ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid holds and infuses moisture into the skin while Olive Extract replenishes the lipid barrier to retain the hydration over 24 hours.

Why we love it: My skin is very confused. One minute it’s tighter than my skinny jeans on a hot day, the next it’s shinier than Blake Lively’s hair (seriously, she must bathe in the tears of virgins or something, that hair is ridic).  Finding a moisturiser that will quench my thirsty skin without creating a swampy oil slick has proven to be quite the challenge, and one product that I think is up to the job is Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel SPF 15.

Much like the foundation for a good education, Neutrogena has developed this moisturiser around the three R’s: not Reading, Writing and Arithmetic (anyone else confused that there’s actually only one ‘R’ in there?), rather Neutrogena’s tenets of moisture are Replenish, Rebuild and Release.

Acting as chief Replenisher is the wunderkind of modern skincare, Hyaluronic Acid – a substance that can hold 1000 times it’s weight in water. Water is exactly what combo skin like mine is crying out for (don’t need any help in the oil department, thank you very much!), helping it to look plump and smooth and relieving tightness (like taking off those skinny jeans at the end of a hot day, home is where the pants aren’t, Am I Rite?)

Rebuilding the skin is Neutrogena’s own Hydro Boost technology, which contains a myriad of carefully selected ingredients to nourish the skin including Olive Extract, which if you didn’t know is chemically very similar to skin’s own lipids. The lipid barrier is your skin’s first defense against the big bad world and is what keeps all that lovely hydration locked in.

And finally for Release Neutrogena have developed a Progressive Release System (or PRS for short)  that ensures all of this goodness is slowly and continuously delivered  into the skin over a 24 hour period.

Here’s the TLDR version (Too Lazy Didn’t Read for my non-internet speakers):

It’s a moisturiser with a lightweight water gel texture that absorbs quickly and releases hydration into the skin over 24 hours. Oh and did I mention it has SPF 15?  And I know I’m not supposed to care about this but I really enjoy the packaging; pump dispensers are the best for keeping your products  fresh and free from contaminates, meaning the ingredients are just as effective at the end of the product as they were at the start – especially important when it comes to SPF.

How to use Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel

Apply to clean dry skin after moisturising, I found that two pumps worked best to really feel the benefits. The melting gel texture makes this a great product for facial massage so I like to take a minute to gently work it into my skin in upward strokes, increasing circulation and maximising absorption.
