Alice (Mia Wasikowska)

Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to the whimsical world of Underland and encounters Iracebeth, the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) in Disney's ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, an all-new adventure featuring the unforgettable characters from Lewis Carroll's beloved stories.

Disneyland is an adventure: for the family, the couple and the lone traveller alike.

There’s a reason videos of parents telling their children they’re headed to Disneyland go viral: the pure bliss and excitement that rushes through the children’s veins is contagious. However, it doesn’t take a careful viewing to see that it’s not just the children who are excited. No wonder. It’s a place where everyone can stop pretending to be an ‘adult’ for a few hours, where you can see your fantasies as a reality.

Everyone has a favourite Disney film – The Lion King, Toy Story, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast and the list goes on… There’s something spectacular about seeing them for real. The costumes, the performance and the setting all make you feel like you’re in a whole new world.

The rides are a perfect compliment to this. Who wouldn’t want to go on an adventure as Indiana Jones in the ‘Temple of the Forbidden Eye’ or join the rebellion as you set off on the Starspeeder 1000 with C-3PO. The thrill of the journey, and of course the excitement part of any roller-coaster ride is something to enjoy while it’s happening and to look forward to as you wonder around the resort. There’s also a highly effective ‘fastpass’ service which allows you to save your place in a line while you enjoy your lunch or head off on a different ride. While the rides are only one feature Disneyland has to offer, it’s certainly nice that it’s an accessible and enjoyable one.

There are also cafés galore. No matter where you are in the resort you’ll quickly find a place to sit down and relax. You can head to Daisy’s Diner or enjoy a quick bite to eat at Bengal’s Barbecue – which regular visitors were so passionate about they campaigned to have it saved upon hearing plans to remove it. There are also other options for the foodies who want to go all out on their trip, such as from the Alfresco Tasting Terrace, where you can find Mediterranean style food that’s hard to beat.

Disneyland is a playground with no age restrictions. It’s a place to live out a childhood dream, to be shared with a loved one or a family – or (and this was how I did it) as an adventure by yourself. Regardless, it should be a guilt-free indulgence of all the things that made us excited as kids. No matter who you are, there’s something Disneyland has to offer.
