The end of the year is fast approaching and with it, 2021’s last solar eclipse! With the sun and moon aligning this Saturday (4th December), we can expect new beginnings, new direction and emotional release…

Eclipses usually work in pairs, and the solar eclipse (which will be seen partially here) comes off the back of November 19th’s partial lunar eclipse.

It’s a time for new direction, new beginnings and a new cycle moving forward – look to the future.

Eclipses work in pairs, and with a lunar and solar eclipse occurring so close together, we should also be mindful of the emotional and physical effects we may be experiencing from the celestial combination.

Lunar and solar eclipses are as powerful as each other, a spiritual process has started but isn’t complete until sometime after this solar eclipse.

We should think about this event spiritually as a ‘process’… lunar eclipses are about integrating experiences and the focus is internal – while solar eclipses are about taking action and the focus is external. You make the inner changes first then release these experiences.

The solar eclipse is occurring in Sagittarius season, a mutable fire sign, and transformation is bound to happen with regard to freedom, expansion and broadening your horizons generally.

You may consider travel or big plans. In some way, life will change for the better as you become wiser from personal direct experience. Foreign connections are also indicated or perhaps study will be on your agenda?

Motivation and inspiration pave the way for deep inner healing and release. Your life becomes more expansive, and growth becomes normal!

The first three weeks in December make up most of the Sagittarius season, which will make people feel more happy-go-lucky, positive and spontaneous.

We can expect sudden and major emotional shifts and exciting new adventures. Spiritually, you are expanding, and you will need broader vistas.

Sagittarius is generous, fun-loving, lucky, expansive, likes travel, exploration and adventure – with a solar eclipse there are always new beginnings in the outside world and energies are amplified.

When the moon is dark – a new beginning is imminent, bringing darkness into the light. As the crescent gets bigger and bigger, more light works through the cycle.

While Sagittarians will be heavily affected, the eclipse phenomena will also have some special flow-on effects for other star signs.

Because the solar eclipse is in Sagittarius, this means that Sagittarius and other mutable signs Gemini, Virgo and Pisces will be affected, and they will need to have a good handle on their emotions.

The solar eclipse in Sagittarius is also about masculine principles.

Women have inner masculine forces and it’s time to be more proactive, independent and externally focused so we can get more of what we want in the world.

Body meridians and power switches called chakras help release physical and spiritual emotions.

In tandem with the lunar eclipse, chakras are opening up and releasing the past… turbulent energy can come up and we may be feeling irritable, angry, argumentative, volatile, upset, unmotivated, exhausted, lethargic – even bloated.

The good news is we should feel alleviation from these symptoms following Saturday’s solar eclipse.

People should be starting to feel better, and our minds and emotions should be clearer so we can start to realise the direction we need to go in to move forward.

Whether that’s ending a relationship, focusing on work or business after a confrontation, or planning for next year – taking action will help.

Tips during the eclipse period:

  • Meditate: be mindful of what you are feeling, feelings are every bit as valid as thoughts.
  • Have quiet time: think about things you want to accomplish physically, with your health and wellbeing, in the workplace, or in relationships.
  • Record your feelings in a diary or journal: particularly if you don’t feel like you can talk to someone trusted about your emotions.
  • Try not to look back at the past or into the future: not being present in your body or with your feelings is a problem. Be truly present and at home in your body now.

Only the first part of the eclipse will be visible from south-eastern parts of Australia because here the sun will set before the eclipse will reach its maximum phase. It will start at roughly 4.30pm AEST.
