Well-known British singer, Adele, released her fourth album called 30 last November. In the lead-up to the album’s release, Adele was featured on the cover of the November issue of Vogue and the first single from the album – Easy On Me – went straight to number one – and it’s still on there.  Everyone around the world is enjoying the singer’s music and also her new look with many wanting to learn how to create it for themselves.

In an effort to recreate Adele’s flawless, winged eyeliner look, there’s been a 450 per cent rise in Google searches for ‘Adele eye makeup’ and searches for ‘Adele makeup tutorial’ have shot up by 110 per cent.

Luckily, the makeup artist Pat McGrath, who did Adele’s makeup for both the video and the Vogue shoot, has shared everything she used to create the look. Perhaps not so lucky, the price of all the products used adds up to £357. But you can recreate it and you don’t have to spend quite this much. We’ll show you here what Pat used and then you can either buy some of these or work out some alternatives you can use.

Pat used the matte rose shade Secret Eden in the crease of Adele’s eye, with dark burgundy Xtreme Plum Noir blended in the outer corner of the crease for depth and on the lower lashline for a smudged smokey effect.

For the metallic shine in the centre of Adele’s eye, Pat used shimmering rose gold Astral Venusian Orchid, creating a high-impact metallic sheen. From the same palette, Pat used shimmering nude Skinshow Nude Xtasy as a highlight on Adele’s brow bone and inner corner of the eye for a touch of luminosity.

Pat used: Pat McGrath Permagel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil in Xtreme Black, £23

Adele Adele is known for a statement winged eyeliner and for the Vogue cover, Pat used this pencil liner from the root of the lashline to map out the shape of the wing, then used a brush to blend the line into the desired shape. “Dampen a pointed cotton bud with makeup remover to correct any mistakes and cleanup the outer corner of the wing,” advises Pat.

Beauty Pie’s gel eyeliner pencil glides along your lid just as nicely, leaving an ever so subtle shimmer in its dark wake.

Pat used: Pat McGrath Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner, £26

Adele To make the line more intense, Pat used a liquid liner to trace the sketched shape, then glided the tip of the pen from the centre of the lid to the outer corner of the eye. “For a lifted effect, ensure the lower part of the wing is in line with the outer corner of the eye, extending upward to create the wing shape,” she says.

Pat used: Pat McGrath Dark Star Mascara, £26

Pat used the impactful Dark Star Mascara to intensify Adele’s lashes. For a similar effect for a fraction of the price, try this lash-boosting budget buy. It makes even thin wispy lashes look full-bodied.

Pat used: Pat McGrath Divine Blush and Glow Trio in Galactic Sun, £41

Pat dipped into all three of the shades in this palette, for a bespoke, multi-dimensional blush and highlighter look. For a similar take try Beauty Pie’s quad which houses a bronzer, two blushes and a highlighter. Swirl them together to copy Adele’s look.

Pat used: Pat McGrath Permagel Ultra Lip Pencil in Buff, £25

Earlier in her career Adele was famed for statement red lips, but he rocks a subtle nude just as well. Pat used this pencil from the outer edge of the lips, blending towards the centre to add depth to the colour.

Adele Pat used: Pat McGrath Mattetrance Lipstick in Christy, £36

This was Pat’s nude hue of choice but rather than apply it straight from the bullet, she put it on the back of her hand then used a fingertip to firmly press it into the lips for a long-lasting finish with a soft edge.

Pat used: Pat McGrath Skinfestish Sublime Perfection Foundation, £60 Adele

For Adele’s picture-perfect base, this was Pat’s foundation of choice. It’s on the pricey end of the spectrum and gives a medium, soft coverage, with a silky texture that glides onto the skin.

So take a look at these products and see what you can do – you can either buy the originals or replicate Adele’s look with some products which are similar. Good luck.
