A few weeks ago Queensland couple Sharny and Julius Kieser put their fitness program to the ultimate test.

First, they spent a month purposely getting fat by eating unhealthy food and rarely exercising.

Then to prove their FitMum and FitDad programs really work, they put themselves through the regime, sharing their weekly weigh-ins on Facebook Live.

Two months later and the pair, who share six kids together, have lost a combined 29.3kg, simply by working out regularly and eating the right foods.

“People who start the program are always saying ‘what happens if I gain all the weight back after eight weeks’ and what we say to everybody is just to be present,” Sharny tells Daily Mail Australia.

“It’s about creating new habits and then keeping with them for life.”

Sharny, who started at 69kg, shed an incredible 12.3kg and now sits at 56.7kg.

“It’s amazing because for me it was about feeling good as a mum. Magnus is almost nine months old and I’ve been breastfeeding the whole time,” she said.

“He’s healthy and chubby and happy and I’m thin and amazing. So I know that he was totally fine the entire time.”

Julius managed to lose 17kg, dropping from 109.5kg to 92.5kg.

“I’ve cheated a couple of times but most of the time it’s just been about hanging with the kids, being healthy, being happy and being present with them,” he said.

“And getting fitter so that I can be a better dad.

“Initially I said I just wanted to lose 10 kilos and anything after that was just vanity.”

Sharny said she hopes to get as fit as possible.

“As you get leaner people will say to you “oh you’re not losing anymore weight are you?” and people have been saying that to me,” she said.

“It’s easy to get fat. So I want to go and get as lean as I can to see what my abs look like and what I can achieve and so does Julius because if I want to gain a kilo all I’ve got to do is have a piece of cake.”

At the beginning of the program, the pair explained that their reason for gaining the weight was to be as transparent and honest with their followers as possible.

“A long time ago when we came out of our other industries and started in the fitness industry we both said that we would never talk s**t to anyone and always provide transparency,” Julius said in a live video on Facebook.

The eight week FitMum program recommends six to seven workouts per week, lasting anywhere from two to 30 minutes.

The FitDad regime extols short, intense workouts targeting strength, cardio, fitness, muscle growth, metabolic conditioning and endurance.

Both programs ban fruit and all other sugar sources in the diet.
