Escape the rat race and get some country fresh air to celebrate the Melbourne Cup this year! What better way to get your ‘giddy up’ on than to get trackside at a thoroughbred horse stud combined with one of the largest vineyards in the district?

Gooree Park is on of Mudgee’s largest historic properties and is renowned both as a world class thoroughbred horse stud and for producing some of the best wines in the region.

Gooree Park is a stunningly picturesque property with its stately trees and iconic white post and rail fences dotting the horizon is located 10 minutes from Mudgee’s town centre and approximately 4 hours drive from Sydney.

A little Gooree Park history:

Lloyd Foyster first developed Gooree Park as a horse stud in the 1960s and built a world class racecourse on the historic property. He bred multiple group one winners their including Ming Dynasty and Mighty Kingdom – winners of three Caulfield Cups in four years. Lloyd built a dam with a three mile circumference and a world class racecourse with a longer straight than Randwick where he trained his horses. In 1979 Filipino businessman Eduardo Cojuangco Jnr purchased the property from the well known racehorse owner and breeder. Under Mr Cojuangco’s ongoing stewardship and passion, the property proudly remains a private enterprise.

Today Gooree Park oversees the breeding & pre-training of the next generation of thoroughbred champions, with dedicated breeding, spelling and training facilities; not to mention our own race track. Gooree Park’s pastoral interests also include the highly sought after Wagyu cattle breed, sheep & cropping enterprises. Gooree also oversees the management of 400 hectares under vine, the production of premium wines as well as onsite Cellar Door operations, events and tours.

Stay tuned for our beautiful cooking series filmed at Gooree Park with super-chef Lyndey Milan as she delights your tastebuds with the wines and produce of the region.
