What do you love about race-day fashion?

“ I love the races because it is such a different type of fashion than you get to wear on a day-to-day basis. There are so many wonderful things about racing, I think that the little rules and quirks are what makes the day so special. For example, in autumn racing you must wear closed in shoes, felt hats and straw is an absolute no-no. I also look forward to wearing jewel tones in winter, to break up the black and white.

A lot of careful planning goes into thinking about what to wear and of course making sure that I mix it up from the last race day. You always want to be innovating and changing your style, you don’t want to be pigeon holed into the same look.

There is also a lot of behind the scenes help mind you. The fantastic stylists I work with are very talented, creative people.”

How do you keep fit leading into race-day?

“I try to always maintain a pretty health and active lifestyle because you never know when things are going to pop up and I do feel better when I eat well and am exercising.

I think that the most important thing to remember is that life happens, so don’t beat yourself up if you cant get to the gym five days a week. Sometimes I do, but as much as I try, occasionally that doesn’t happen. There is no normal week but I generally do 2 p.t. sessions a week before 45 minutes to an hour. I also do flow athletic and a bit of spin, yoga and strength circuits.

For me, variety is key because I always get really bored. If I am excited about trying something new, it helps motivate me to get to the gym and stay fit. Routine is a killer. I like to mix it all up and keep things fresh.”

Products you love?

“I use a lot of Endota spa skin products at the moment. I get their facials too. It is a really wonderful, natural product and has done wonders for my skin.

No matter how tired I get I always remove my makeup and look after your skin properly. If your skin isn’t looking fantastic then nothing else that you put on top of it will either.”

Race-Day Beauty Tips

  1. I always utilize an SPF sunscreen. I use a nice Clarins spray, which is light and non-greasy.
  1. Always wear a long lasting lippy, I have been using the Revlon HD ultra mat and they don’t move at all.
  1. Use a matte foundation because if you get a bit sweaty your makeup can tend to shift. There is nothing worse than when you go to the bathroom and look in the mirror and think, “That is not what I thought I looked like!”
