Benefit Cosmetics have long been innovators in the brow category, so it’s no wonder they are bringing us the ultimate brow tool kit. Homegrown Youtube superstar Chloe Morello has collaborated on the kit, and is dishing some of her tips. # Quick easy brows
Makeup artists refer to brows as “framing the face”, it’s important to think about what your brows are framing. You wouldn’t use a heavy black frame for a soft translucent watercolour after all. A brow that is too heavy can weigh down the face. It’s a natural error to make as most of us have one product that we use for our entire brow. You don’t need multiple products, I am just careful to vary the amount of product I deposit at the front of my brow. However, using two different coloured powders is the traditional way to add dimensional two toned colour to a look so if you have the time its worthwhile. 2 # Cute Everyday Brows
Morello uses the Precisely My Brow Pencil to define her shape then follows with the Gimme Brow gel. Their Gimme Brow gel was one of the first makeup products I owned. I’ve used dozens of different gels since which has only taught me to appreciate it’s genius. The pyramid shaped applicator allows you to perfect gel the tail end of your brows, where thicker applicators create a mess. Meanwhile the fibres are light and fluffy, and the formula soft and flexible. No crunchy brows here. Morello highlights the brow bone with “High Brow Glow” a champagne pencil. Highlighting the brow bone catches any product that has dropped down, and provides a clean lifted look.
3 # Polished, sophisticated brows
The secret weapon for Morello’s “polished, sophisticated look” is Benefit’s Ka-Brow brow pomade. Brow pomade is a tricky beast, but approach the product with a light hand and it will serve you well. Generally more opaque and long-wearing than other brow products pomades are great for creating detail and grounding dramatic looks. I use pomade when i need to “build” a brow from scratch, (for clients whose are survivors of the 70’s or 90’s) or if a client wants a very defined “instagram brow”. Morello unsurprisingly demonstrates perfect pomade technique. Carefully removing excess product from the built in brush she sketches with a light hand through the tail end of her brow. The result is a clean, beautifully structured look.
