Carers Need A Greak Too – Let’s Give Them One Day Off
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Caring for Carers Australia (CCA), a small not-for-profit organisation based in Brisbane, has big dreams for all Carers. They recently launched a national campaign to honour all unpaid Carers across Australia by giving them a break. It’s called it OneDayOff.org. The goal is to provide regular breaks for all Carers through the funds raised during each annual campaign.

They want our entire nation to be part of the wave of hope we are creating for all Carers.

They believe it’s downright un-Australian to not have a day off. Unpaid Carers work tirelessly to care for a loved one who has a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or drug dependency or is frail and aged. They don’t get paid let alone sick leave or annual leave. Not even a day off.

Carer’s health and wellbeing is the lowest combined average of any large group measured by the Australian Unity Health and Wellbeing Index. They need the support of our communities and our nation so they feel  honoured and acknowledged for the incredible contribution they make to our society.

Alison Layton, founder of OneDayOff. has funded the entire campaign as she believes passionately in acknowledging the love, dedication and compassion, Carers show their loved one each and every day. They care for others without asking for anything in return for themselves, this is the epitome of true love. Our nation relies enormously on unpaid Carers and we should show our appreciation for who they are and what they do.

The team have worked tirelessly to ensure the campaign runs smoothly and Carers feel supported through our efforts.

Carers are able to choose from the following for their One Day Off:

  • 8 hours of respite
  • 8 hours of cleaning
  • 8 hours of lawn/garden maintenance

If you are a Carer they would be honoured to help you have One Day off, click on the get started button and register as a Carer, there are no strings attached, it’s a way of saying thank you.

If you or your organisation would like to be part of the wave of hope for Carers by raising funds, click on the Donate button to support all Carers.
