It's A Boy! Asher Keddie's Exciting Offspring News...

Everyone’s favourite TV obstetrician, Asher Keddie (aka Offspring’s Nina Proudman), has welcomed her very own real-life offspring into the world – a little baby boy.

“Both Keddie and (husband) Fantauzzo welcomed a healthy little boy last week and the couple are thrilled and enjoying their downtime”, confirmed Keddie’s agent.

This is the first child for the 40 year old Gold Logie winner, best known for her role as the bumbling and loveable Nina in the TV series Offspring. While her on-screen character is a single mother (main image of Nina holding her on-screen daughter) who shares parenting duties with her sister, Billie (Kat Stewart) and her extended but close-knit family, in real life Keddie has the support of husband, Vincent Fantauzzo, who she married in a secret, barefoot and intimate wedding on the exclusive Turtle Island in Fiji in April 2014.

Fantauzzo – who already has a four-year-old son Luca – met Keddie through mutual friends including the one and only celebrity chef, Matt Moran. A talented artist in his own right, Fantauzzo’s portrait of his wife won the People’s Choice Award for the Archibald Prize in 2014 and also calls Keddie his inspiration.

With a successful career already under her belt at age 40, Keddie hasn’t always been sure that motherhood is for her. In an interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly in 2011 where she was asked about motherhood, she said; “Why are we only considered successful if we can juggle a family and a demanding career? I admire people who can do it, don’t get me wrong. But I feel successful not doing it as well. I don’t think, ‘Oh gosh, I won’t be quite there and I won’t be as successful as I want to be unless I’m juggling a couple of kids, a marriage and a career.”
