Carla Zampatti, one of our favourite Australian designers, known for her clean cuts, stunning stripes and ready to wear chic signature designs wowed everyone with an exclusive preview of her upcoming winter collection at the Calyx in Sydney’s Royal Botanical Gardens.
The collection featured deep velvet, slinky metallics, big ruffled shoulders, a romantic military fusion and soft flowing dusty pink outfits. Here’s a closer look at the collection.
The cold shoulder trend is still in full force, despite not appearing as winter appropriate clothing, Carla has created a warm winter version with a fabulous off-the-shoulder fur top.
Carla vamped up the military style jacket by fashioning it in royal red velvet. Truly regal. Not to mention her off the shoulder velvet red dress.
There was simply no lack of romance in her winter collection, the long flowing military cape was a real show stealer. Carla is a big fan of the cape which also appeared in her SS collection fronted by Delta Goodren at her Summer 2016 show.
Our eyes were mesmerised by the stunning midnight blue velvet ensembles with romantic ruffled shoulders and royal red velvet blazers.
The collection evoked thoughts of a bygone era, think Cathy wandering the moors in Wuthering heights with a velvet cape billowing behind her, or Keira Knightley in the famous library scene from the film version of Ian McEwan’s ‘Atonement’ dressed in a slinky gold gown rather than the emerald green. A hint of period drama combined with her own modern stylish flair.
Soft pink flowing fabrics and gold embroidery added to the enchantment of the collection.
We’re in love with this etherial white top with gold thorn embroidery and a long flowing train.
Carla opted for small pointed flats rather than killer heels, making the collection more appealing to the everyday woman.
We can’t wait for this collection hit the stores. Forget the sun, bring on the cold weather so we can buy her regal and romantic collection for ourselves.
