The Academy Award winner and his gorgeous wife Hannah Bagshawe capped a life-changing year with the arrival of their first baby, daughter Iris Mary Redmayne.
Little Iris arrived safe and well just four days before Father’s Day was celebrated in the UK on June 19, confirm reports.
It’s been a busy time for 34-year-old Eddie, who was recently revealed as the new face of Prada.
Speaking about his impending fatherhood in March, Eddie confessed he was nervous about stepping up to the role.
“It’s our first child, so obviously there’s a mixture of emotions.
“Joy, excitement and a bit of fear. I can’t wait. I’ll be a hands-on dad.”
He said the pregnancy had been the perfect ending to an amazing year.
He added: “I still pinch myself — every actor thinks about living the Hollywood dream and making it over here is incredible.
“I’ll always stay grounded and I don’t take anything for granted.”
Eddie has enjoyed a life-changing couple of years, marrying publicist Hannah, 33, two months before winning his first Oscar in 2015 for Best Actor for his portrayal of Professor Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.
He was also nominated for a second Oscar in 2016 for his role as transgender pioneer Lile Elbe in The Danish Girl.
Eddie and Hannah met while the actor attended Eton College, the same year as Prince William. Hannah was at a neighbouring boarding school for girls.
She and her classmates had scheduled a fashion show for charity, and Eddie volunteered to walk the runway – topless.
Eddie next appears in the Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, which is due for release at the end of 2016.
