Eleanor Pendleton reveals the colour du jour for autumn/winter.
If you aren’t acquainted with burgundy then it’s time you should be. Yes, oxblood, the deep wine coloured hue is undoubtedly having its moment – and rightly so.
Here, we show you how to wear the IT colour straight off the international catwalks and onto your eyes, lips and nails.
Eyes
From coppery rose gold at Suno to metallic russet at Bibhu Mohapatra, burgundy hues offer a new way to amp up eyes.
The trick is make reddish lids look chic – not allergy ridden – so apply eye shadow to the whole lid except just below the brow, then finish with plenty of coats black mascara.

Lips
Fact: oxblood is one of those rare colours that you can apply without taking your skin tone into account. Burgundy is so deeply saturated, that it’s more about creating beautifully sculpted lips than anything else. Before applying any dark lip colour, ensure your lips are exfoliated and hydrated with a balm first.

Nails
From New York to London, this nail look was everywhere at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Make it matte like Costello Tagliapietra or modern with Marissa Webb’s take on nail art.
